A copper hoard was discovered by metal detecting in a field near
the Blackwater Estuary in October 2000. It is a collection of 61 ingots now
housed in Colchester Museum. An examination of The Goldhanger Hoard was
undertaken as part of a PhD project in the University of Sheffield, which
included a study of British Bronze Age metalsmithing tools, metric recording,
